With this image, I’m exploring the intricate story of 'Wide Sargasso Sea,' by Jean Rhys, a prequel to “Jane Eyre” that examines the life of Bertha, Mr. Rochester’s wife. Set in Jamaica during the 1830s, this work portrays Antoinette Cosway, a white Creole heiress, as she navigates her turbulent journey from the Caribbean to England. I’ve tried to render the emotional depth of her experiences, reflecting the societal rejection and exoticisation she faces, ultimately culminating in her tragic descent into madness.
