From a seemingly minor delay in visiting a nearby lighthouse, Woolf weaves a remarkable and moving exploration of the complex tensions and loyalties within family life, as well as the conflict between men and women. In this cover illustration, I aimed to depict the intricate layers of family dynamics and the interplay of gender. The artwork features a serene yet lively seascape, evoking the tranquil yet turbulent atmosphere of the Isle of Skye. The gentle waves and shifting colours mirror the emotional currents of the characters.
