The Temple of Aphaia is an ancient Greek temple on the island of Aegina, dedicated to the goddess Aphaia. Built around 500 BC, it follows the Doric order with six columns on short sides and twelve on long sides. The pediments depict scenes from the Trojan War, showcasing warriors from Aegina. The temple stands on a 160-meter-high hill, offering stunning views of the island and surrounding sea. It was admired by Neoclassical and Romantic artists, including J.M.W. Turner, who drew inspiration from its striking form. Some of its sculptures are now displayed in the Glyptothek Museum in Munich.
