This woodblock-style portrait is of the Church of St Thomas à Becket at Fairfield. It is arguably the most iconic of the 14 medieval churches on Romney Marsh in Kent. Known for its isolation, the small building stands alone in a field grazed by sheep and surrounded by a network of drainage ditches (dykes).
