'Northumberland Sunrise'

I rendered this print after a pre-dawn winter walk along the cliffs where Northumberland meets the Scottish border. The air was clear and the sun was just lifting; that thin band of light on the water and the low, brooding clouds stayed with me. A trip to Berlin and an immersion in 19th‑century German Romanticism shaped how I approached the composition and the muted, tonal palette.

The scene presents a low horizon, a windswept tree leaning toward the sea, and layered clouds that redirect the light—small elements working together to set the mood.
