North Bridge

Here, I’ve taken an old black and white photograph, improved its definition and colourised it. Its centre of attention is North Bridge over the River Hull. Though the general topography of the river and its attendant industry remain similar, many of the buildings in this image no longer remain.

North Bridge in Hull, also known as George Street Bridge, is a historic bascule bridge built between 1928 and 1931 by the Widnes Foundry. Designed by T. Thomas, it connects the east and west sides of Hull and is Grade II listed. Known for its elegant wrought iron latticework and movable functionality, it has been a vital transport link for decades.
