The Malham Cove pavement
Above Malham Cove, in the Yorkshire Dales, lies a remarkable limestone pavement, which is a flat, weathered surface made up of large slabs of rock called "clints," separated by deep fissures known as "grykes." These features were created by the chemical weathering of the limestone over thousands of years. The pavement is a unique and striking landscape, often admired for its geometric patterns and its role in supporting specialised plant life that thrives in the grykes
