Lindisfarne

Lindisfarne, also known as Holy Island, is a tidal island off the northeast coast of England in Northumberland. It's famous for its rich history and spiritual significance. The island was a major centre of Celtic Christianity, with Saint Aidan founding a monastery there in 635 AD. This monastery became a hub for spreading Christianity throughout northern England.

The island is also known for the Lindisfarne Gospels, an illuminated manuscript created in the 8th century, showcasing stunning artistry and devotion. However, Lindisfarne faced Viking invasions, with the first raid occurring in 793 AD, marking the beginning of the Viking Age in Britain.
